There are normally one or two hyped up horses that are considered very good Grand National bets and they will be between 8/1 and 5/1.

The Grand National is normally a very good betting race because there are normally only about four horses that have a single figure price (under 10/1) so there are plenty of big prices about and some good each way value.

Because the race is still some way off no horse is currently trading at these odds -so there is plenty of value prices to be snapped up!

The horses outlined below are still available at big prices but as the last two winners of the race they are the sort of horse who will almost certainly come in for support again as the race approaches and be challenging for favouritism in the final few days before the race.

After the favourites you get about eight Grand National runners that are priced above 10/1 and below 20/1. These can often provide the winner (five of the first nine winners since 2000) so you should take extra care when looking at Grand National horses with betting odds at these prices.

There will then be about ten runners that carry Grand National Betting odds that are larger than 20/1 but below 33/1. These are the sorts of Grand National Betting odds that are good for each way betting. Plenty of placed horses in the Grand National will carry these odds and a 28/1 placed horse is as good as a 7/1 winner in most cases.

Grand National betting - The Outsiders

Then you get about 15 runners that are 33/1 or bigger in the Grand National betting. Plenty of people looking for a bit of value on the Grand National bet each way at these prices but there are not many placed at this big odds unless the ground comes up very testing.

Unless you really fancy something at these odds you are probably best off looking at a bit shorter odds.
